Charles Cashwell

Picture
ABOUT THE ARTIST'S WORKS Charles Cashwell attended Ringling School of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida. (considered one of the most reputable art schools in the country.) After graduating, he started his career as an illustrator for text book publications houses but soon broke into the portrait world. He established himself in the Wallstreet community of Westchester, NY, working with several prestigious clients, such as the president of Morgan Stanley Financial and the vice president of Lehman Brothers.
In the last three years Charles Cashwell has decided to expand his works and offer more than just portraits to art enthusiasts. Following his long term passion for impressionism and rich color, Charles spent two years in Taos further developing his technique and showed in the John Strong Gallery of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Previously featured in the Earnest Gaspard showroom at ADAC of Atlanta, Charles continues to pursue a modern impressionistic approach to landscapes and more. He has won numerous first place awards for his plein air works across the southeast, including two People's Choice Awards. Last year Juror Mark Hanson chose Charles out of 750 artists for first place in the 2021 Bienalle Exhibition in South Carolina. Charles is currently working on a new series of southwestern paintings that focus on the Pueblo indians. He is exploring new painting techniques for this series which are sure to bring attention. A prominent named artist just posted on her instagram "Charles Cashwell - artist to watch for 2022".

THE STORY BEHIND THE ARTIST Charles Cashwell was born in Columbia, South Carolina on July 26, 1959. His interest in art came at an early age and he recalls one experience when he was about 10 or 11 that served as his foray into the art world. While playing in the neighborhood where he lived , Charles found himself standing in front of a window that opened to a view of a painters studio. Self described as a shy child, not one to take up a conversation with strangers he was so drawn to this studio that he took it upon himself to knock on this door and ask if the painter would give him lessons. The artist said yes and Charles has never looked back.
