Katie Dobson Cundiff

Having acquired an early appreciation for the fine arts, drawing, and painting, under the direction of her artist parents, Katie Dobson Cundiff was drawing on the floor of her father’s studio from the time she could hold a pencil, and realized her destiny as an artist. Her parents introduced her to the works of masters with trips to great museums, galleries, and art studios, and she accompanied her father as he gave painting demonstrations around Chicago area schools and art leagues.
Early endeavors rewarded Katie with scholarships to Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL, where she received her B.A. in Fine Art. Known for her bold, confident brushwork, keen sense of composition, and color, Katie works primarily from life painting landscape, still life, figurative and wildlife. Her work has been featured on apparel and in print for many national and international conservation and wildlife organizations and has appeared in national publications including Plein Air, American Artist, Fine Art Connoisseur, American Art Collector, and Southwest Artists Magazines. A love of the out of doors, combined with her lifelong learning experience, has produced numerous awards and recognition in plein air events, festivals , and national exhibits.
Katie is a member of Salmugundi and California Art Clubs, past president of Plein Air Painters of the Southeast, and holds Signature Member status in Oil Painters of America, American Impressionists Society, American Women Artists, and Women Painters of the Southeast.
Art in all forms, but particularly painting, remains her passion. Katie currently resides in Sarasota, FL where she holds studio and en plein air workshops and is a professor at Ringling Collage of Art and Design. “My quest for becoming a great painter is filled with hard work, curiosity, and exploration and adventures. The more I know about painting, the more I realize there is so much more to learn. It’s a privilege and honor to live this life, and share my journey with others. “ Katie Dobson Cundiff
